Sea Fort for Sale

Tomorrow, Horse Sand Fort, goes up for auction with a price guide of £875,000.

The fort is one of the largest of four forts that were built in The Solent in  the 1880s to protect Portsmouth from a French invasion.   They were never used and became known as Palmerston's Follies after the name of the Prime Minister who ordered them to be built.  During both World War I and II, chains were laid between the forts to stop German submarines.

If you are looking for total seclusion, something a little quirky with fantastic views and plenty to spend, this is the place for you.

For inspiration, check out No Man's Fort which has been refurbished and is run as a hotel.
