Five Centuries of Fashion at Chatsworth House


Next year Chatsworth House with the help of Vogue will be staging Five Centuries of Fashion.  From ballgowns to tiaras it will display outfits worn by some of histories most fashionable women associated with the Devonshire family.



Georgina, Duchess of Devonshire was famous for her beauty and fashion style.  She was the great-great-great aunt to Princess Diana.


Adele Astaire, sister and dance partner to Fred Astaire married Lord Charles Cavendish in 1932, 2nd son of the 9th Duke of Devonshire.



Notorious Mitford Sisters, Nancy and Deborah Devonshire


Kathleen "Kick" Kennedy married William Cavendish, Marquess of Hartington and heir apparent of the Duke of Devonshire in 1944.  Four months after their marriage, William was killed by a sniper whilst fighting the Germans in Belgium.


Stella Tennant, top model and grand-daughter of Andrew Cavendish, 11th Duke of Devonshire and Deborah Mitford.

The exhibition will run from 25th March to 22nd October 2017.
