Tragic Hollywood Blondes

The famous saying that "blondes have more fun" certainly seems true when it comes to Hollywood.   However, there have been a few for which this was not the case:

1930's Hollywood starlet, Thelma Todd was known as the "Ice Cream Blonde" and appeared in 120 feature films between 1926 and 1935.  Thelma died at the age of 29 in a car parked inside the garage of her lover's ex-wife.

Jean Harlow was known as the first blonde bombshell after starring in the 1933 film "Bombshell".  She died of kidney failure at the age of 26.

Dorothy Comingore starred in "Citizen Kane".  The role was based on Marion Davies, mistress to a newspaper mogul called William Randolph Hearst.  She became the victim of a smear campaign by Hearst.   She was put on a communist watch list, arrested for prostitution and eventually lost custody of her children due to an alleged drinking problem.  In 1951 she was blacklisted in Hollywood.

Carole Landis rose to fame as a cave girl in the film "One Million, B.C".  After a short and tumultuous career, she committed suicide in 1948.

Marilyn Monroe is considered to be one of the most iconic actresses in Hollywood.  However the pressure and fame caused her severe anxiety and depression and in 1962 she took an overdose.

Jayne Mansfield was not only an actresses but also a nightclub entertainer and one of the first Playboy Playmate.  She was a major sex symbol during the 1950s and early 1960s.   She was killed in a car crash in 1967.

Sharon Tate was an american actress and model who was married to film producer Roman Polanski.  On August 9th 1969, she was murdered with 4 others by members of the Manson family.

Anna Nicole Smith went from a single mother to a sought after Guess model, became 1993 Playmate of the year, married a billionaire a lot older than herself and created a stir in Hollywood.   She died at 39 from an overdose.

Lindsay Lohan is an actress, singer\songwriter and fashion designer who has struggled with fame and has had stints in jail and rehabilitation for substance abuse.
