Happy Birthday - Gina Lollobrigida


Lulgina "Gina" Lollobrigida was born this day 1927 in Subiaco, Italy.   Gina became on of the highest profile European actresses of the 1950s and early 60s and was considered to be a sex symbol.

As well as having a successful acting career, in the late 1970s she embarked on a second career as a photo-journalist and has photographed the likes of Paul Newman, Salvador Dali, Henry Kissinger, Audrey Hepburn, Ella Fitzgerald and the German National Football Team.

Last year, Sothebys sold her jewellery collection and Gina donated nearly $5 million to stem cell therapy.
