Beatles Perform Live for the Last Time
On this day in 1969, the Beatles performed their last live gig on the rooftop of Apple Studio's HQ at 3 Savile Row, London.
It had been suggested that the concert would be held in a London pub, an amphitheater or the Sahara Desert but it was felt that this required too much organisation when all the band members were reluctant to spend any time with each other.
The day was cold and windy with Paul McCartney's fingers going numb and Ringo Starr having to borrow a woman's red coat to keep warm.
The concert lasted just over 40 minutes. John Lennon ended the performance by saying"I'd like to say Thank You on behalf of the group and ourselves and I hope we passed the audition".
