SOUTHAMPTON DOCKS CELEBRATING 1TS 175 BIRTHDAY THIS WEEKEND Plenty going on at the Docks this weekend to celebrate it's birthday.  Over it's long history, it has seen some very glamorous people embark\disembark from Royalty, Hollywood Actors, politicians etc.   Indeed, my Grandfather saw Elizabeth Taylor and Mike Todd come into Southampton after sailing across from the States on The Queen Mary. Duke and Duchess  of Windsor arriving into Southampton on the RMS Queen Mary Douglas Fairbanks & Mary Pickford on their Honeymoon arriving into Southampton on  in the 1920s on the RMS Olympic

SOLE SISTER I just adore shoes and the higher the better I say.  More often than not, a night out and the amount of walking involved will determine how high the heels will be,  which I am sure I am not alone in that.  Nothing finishes an outfit like a great pair of shoes whether it is a LBD or a pair of jeans. One of my favourite pairs of shoes are from Iron Fist (left) who are based in California whose normal theme tends to incorporate skulls in one way or another or have corset-style lacing on their heels.  Luckily a number of shops here in the UK now stock them such as Schuh - even the tattoo studio here in Wimborne stocks them!! The Great British Bake Off Does Vintage Did you see Charlotte White on The Great British Bake Off this evening?  Charlotte who is mad about the 1940s was on the show discussing the making of bread during the War and how unappetising it was.   Charlotte who owns Restoration Cakes in Yeading, Middesex has also written a book called Burlesque Baking which reflects the lovely outfits worn by Burlesque Dancers. Charlotte was also asked to bake Dame Vera Lynn's 95th birthday cake last year which was decorated in Dame Vera's favourite colour, baby blue.
