Christian Dior On this day in 1905, the founder of one of the world's top fashion houses, Christian Dior was born in Granville, France. He was a master at creating shapes and silhouettes and his designs tended to be fuller than the boxy, fabric-conserving shapes of that time which was due to the rationing of fabrics after the War. Dior died at 52 whilst on holiday in Italy following a heart attack.

Dolly is the most honoured female country performer of all time as well as starring in a number of successful movies. Tippi Hedren (born Kay Hedren) was born this in 1930 in Minnesota. She is best known for her roles in the Hitchcock films, The Birds and Marnie. Prior to acting, Tippi had been a successful model in the 1950s and early 1960s. In 1957, she gave birth to her daughter, actress Melanie Griffith.
