Glamorous Wedding Dresses

The Victoria & Albert Museum will be having on display wedding dresses from 1775-2014 from the 3rd May, which will highlight the history and development of wedding dresses throughout the ages.  

In celebration of this fantastic exhibition, here are a few great wedding dresses worn by film stars, singers and royalty.

Elizabeth Taylor

In 1950, Liz Taylor married hotel heir Conrad "Nicky" Hilton in Hollywood.  her silk, basque-waisted gown coast $1500 which in today's money is $14,000 and was a gift from MGM Studios.


When Jackie Bouvier married John F Kennedy in 1953, she work a ivory silk taffeta gown by designer Ann Lowe.

In 1954, Audrey Hepborn married Mel Ferrer in a below-the-knee, chiffon-sleeved dress made by Belmain with fresh flowers.





In 1956, Grace Kelly married Prince Rainier of Monaco in a pearl-studded, long sleeved wedding dress designed by Helen Rose which was a gift from MGM.   It is said that this dress was the inspiration behind Kate Middleton's wedding dress.




In 1957, Natalie Wood married Robert Wagner in a lace hood, white cocktail dress and flat ballet shoes.




When Princess Margaret married Anthony Armstrong-Jones, she wore a white, silk, Norman Hartnell gown with a diamond tiara.


In November 1961, Eva Gardner wed Frank Sinatra in a halter-neck dress with a sheer shawl.



When Cilla Black married Bobby Willis in 1962, she wore a John Bates red velvet mini dress.

In 1971, Bianca Porez Morena De Macias wore a whiteYSL "Le Smoking" jacket over a long white skirt when marrying Mick Jagger.


When Dita Von Teese married Marilyn Manson, she wore a purple wedding dress designed by Vivienne Westwood.


In 2011, Charlene Wittstock married Prince Albert of Monaco, wearing an off-the-shoulder Armani dress.
