Catherine The Great was the most renowned and longest-ruling female leader in Russian history (1762 - 1796) and it became known as Russia's Golden Age.  Throughout her reign, Catherine took many lovers often elevating them to high positions for as long as they held her interest.  Her sexual independence led to many stories about her, among them, allegations of an erotic appetite for horses!!



Hungarian-born film actress and socialite, Zsa Zsa Gabor, has been married 9 times.  She once commented that "I am a marvellous housekeeper:  Every time I leave a man, I keep the house".


Ava Gardner was married to Mickey Rooney, Artie Shaw and Frank Sinatra who was blasted by gossip columnists for leaving his wife for such a noted femme fatale. After divorcing Sinatra in 1957, Ava moved to Spain where she fell in love with bullfighter, Luis Miguel Domingulin.


American Socialite, Wallis Simpson, had already been married twice when she met King Edward VIII.   The King's desire to marry Wallis threatened to cause a constitutional crisis so in December 1936, King Edward abdicated to "marry the woman I love".  



Marilyn Monroe was married three times, the first when she was 16 to sheet metalworker James Dougherty, Joe DiMaggio and Arthur Miller.  She also had affairs with both JF Kennedy and his brother Robert who reportedly visited her in Los Angeles the day she died.


Italian-French singer-songwriter and former model is married to former French President Nicolas Sarkozy.  However, Carla has been linked to Louis Bertignac, Mick Jagger, Eric Clapton, Leos Carax, Charles Berling, Arno Klarsfeld, Vincent Perez and former French Prime Minister Laurent Fabius.
