Guy Bourdin
2nd December 1928 - 29 March 1991

French fashion photographer Guy Bourdin was born in Paris in 1928 and went on to become one of the first photographers to create sensual, provocative, mysterious and sometimes violent pictures.  Madonna's 2003 music video for "Hollywood" was greatly influenced by his photography, so much so that a lawsuit was brought against Madonna by Bourdin's son for infringement of copyrite.

An exhibition of his iconic images is currently being held at Somerset House which runs until the 15th March (somersethouse.org.uk)
