Roger Vivier

Anyone who is mad about shoes will know that French fashion designer, Roger Vivier is best remembered for creating the stiletto heel in 1954. Although stilettos were around in the 19th century, Vivier is the man we need to thank for reviving and developing the style by using thin rods of steel.
The likes of Ava Gardner, Jackie Kennedy and Gloria Guinness were customers as well as the Queen who had a pair of his shoes designed for her coronation in 1953.
