National Lipstick Day

Today in the USA, they are celebrating National Lipstick Day.   This year, the lipstick I have my heart set on to buy\or receiving as One's birthday is looming is Christian Dior's Diorific 008 Mitzah.

Did you know that:

In the time of the Greek Empire, it was thought that only prostitutes wore red lipstick as most women at that time wore no makeup.

During the Roman Empire even men wore lipstick as it was used to indicate social status.

During WW2, Winston Churchill refused for lipsticks to be rationed as was other makeup as he realised the effect on morale it had.

The Queen had a lipstick made which matched her coronation robes (1952).  The lipstick was called "The Balmoral Lipstick"

It is said that Elizabeth Taylor forbid the wearing of lipstick by other women when working on her film set.

The world's most expensive lipstick is the H Couture Beauty Diamond Lipstick and retails at $14 million.  This is due to the casing being covered in diamonds.

Studies have shown that Londoners love nude lipsticks whilst women in New York prefer red.

Lipstick sales in the UK for 2014 were valued at £137 million.
