War Horse
A ride to commemorate the important role of the British and French Cavalry in WWI ended in Nery, France today. The War Horse Ride started in Maroilles on the 27th August with 35 riders travelling 100 miles through France.
The name of the ride came from the successful musical and blockbuster film War Horse directed by Steven Spielberg which has been seen by over 6 million people across the world, which is a tale of a farm horse which was sold to the army and became a hero on the Western Front.
This is a picture of horses being mustered up to go to War in Broadwindsor Square, Dorset on the 5th August 1914.
