Smugglers & A Fossilised Forest

This afternoon, we walked from Lulworth Cove to Mupe Bay.

Luckily the MOD ranges were open so we walked along the coastal path.

Only 2 miles from Lulworth Bay, which was packed with holidaymakers, but there was hardly a soul here.  This Bay used to be an old smuggling haunt but these boats were just enjoying the peace and quiet.

On the way back, we came across the fossilised forest.   These strange markings are where trees had fallen into the water when sea levels rose.

and then back to Lulworth Cove for a well deserved drink.
