Harlem Hellfighters

I came across this interesting article (HistoryBuff) about the Harlem Hellfighters who were the first African-American infantry unit to fight in World War 1.

The 369th Infantry Regiment were given their nickname by the Germans as over 70% of the force were in fact from Harlem and they went on to become one of the most feared units in the Allied Forces.

The French called them the "Men of Bronze" and are said to have introduced the French to American Jazz with their regiment Jazz band led by a James Reese.
