Tiller Girls
I found out this week that my Aunt used to be a Tiller Girl and had danced at the London Palladium.
The Tiller Girls were first formed in1889 by John Tiller and became one of the most popular dance troupes at the time. The girls had to be matched in height and weight and performed a "Tap and Kick" routine which is now known as Precision Dancing.
After WW2, The Tiller Girls popularity continued to increase where there were up to 40 girls in the line up and the girls continued to dance right up until the 1970s.
