Birthday Boys


Sir Jackie Stewart, OBE was born this day in 1939 in Milton, West Dunbartonshire.  Nicknamed the Flying Scot, Jackie competed in Formula One between 1965 and 1973, winning three World Driver's Championship.  Between 1997 and 1999, Jackie also became team principal for the Stewart Grand Prix Formula One Racing Team.

In 2009, he was ranking fifth of the fifty greatest Formula One racing drivers by journalist Kevin Eason.



Gene Wilder (Jereome Silverman) also has his birthday today.  Born in Milwaukee in 1933 to a Russian father and Jeanne his mother who suffered with heart disease, he was advised by their doctor never to argue with his mother but to try and make her laugh and this was the start of his love for acting.

Gene has played in many films such as Bonnie and Clyde 1967, Woody Allen's 1972 film Everything you always wanted to know about Sex, Blazing Saddles 1974 but is probably best remembered for playing Willy Wonka.
