Marilyn Monroe

Marilyn Monroe born Norma Jeane Mortenson was born this day 1926 in Los Angeles.  After spending much of her childhood in foster homes, Marilyn began a career as a model which led to her first film contract in 1946 with Twentieth Century-Fox.  She went on to star in a number of successful motion pictures during the 1950s and early 1960s and became a major sex symbol.
