No expense was spared by Karl Lagerfeld to showcase his Arabian themed Cruise Collection last month in Dubai.  Those luckily enough to receive an invite were taken from their hotels in monochrome Range Rovers to the seafront where Abras (traditional wooden water taxis) dropped guests off on a unihabitated island 650 metres offshore.

Apparently it took 8 weeks and £1.4 million to transform the island with palm-tree lined pathways, bedouin tents and a gold pavilion with a fretwork of interlocking Cs.  As well as arab princesses, sheiks and their wives, Tilda Swinton, Vanessa Paradis and Freida Pinto were also spotted in the crowd.
