Born on this Day

Lee Marvin was born in New York City this day in 1924.   Best known for his gravelly voice and white hair, he appeared in 70 films between 1951 and 1986 in films such as Hell in the Pacific (1968), The Dirty Dozen (1967) and was awarded an Oscar for his performance in Cat Ballou.

One of my favourites has to be Paint Your Wagon (1969) in which he sings "Wand'rin Star".

He died in 1987 in Tucson, Arizona.
