You will not find this Norwegian lady performing at the Olympics.  However, Karina Hollekim is the first female athlete to complete a ski BASE.

Karina was an accomplished skier at an early age and by 21 was competing all over Europe.  In 2000, Karina met Jeb Cortiss, regarded as one of the best BASE jumpers in the world and Karina found she also had an appetite for this.   In what is regarded as an ultra-macho sport, Karina was able to hold her own and became the first ever women to ski BASE.

Karina and a friend also completed a winged suit jump off Kaga Tondo, a 2000 foot sandstone rock formation in the Mali desert and Karina has jumped off Shanghai's 88-story Jin Mao Tower.

In 2006, she had a near-fatal accident which resulted in 20 operations and having to learn to walk again. Yet, she did recover and is now back ski-ing.  One very tough cookie.
