American actress, Katherine Hepburn, was born this day in 1907 in Hartford, Connecticut.  She went on to become a leading lady in Hollywood for 60 years.  Outspoken, assertive, athletic and someone who wore trousers before it was fashionable she was regarded as a "modern woman" in 20th century America.
