November 14 1922 - July 7 1973 |
With her trademark peek-a-boo hairstyle, Veronica Lake was a popular American pin-up model and actress in the 1940s. She won critical acclaim starring in Sullivan's Travel and This Gun for Hire which also starred Alan Ladd. Although popular with the public, she had a reputation for being difficult to work with and her co-star in the musical Star Spangled Rhythm was quoted as saying "she was known as 'The Bitch' and she deserved the title".
