As Brazil prepares to host the World Cup, BBC2 (12th May 9pm), is following the lives of the staff and guests at one of South America's most prestigious hotels, The Copacabana Palace http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b043nqwv

It first opened in August 1923 and since then the rich and famous have been flocking there.  Stars who have stayed there include Madonna, Michael Jackson, Walt Disney, the Rolling Stones, Marilyn Monroe, Rita Hayworth, Gina Lollobrigida, Brigitte Bardot, Princess Diana, Tom Cruise and Pavarotti.
