50 Years of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

Author, Ian Fleming, originally told this story orally to his son after being banned from writing following a heart attack.   The book was based on bedtime stories he told his young son Casper and was released in 1964, two months after Fleming's death.

The subsequent film was adapted by Roald Dahl who added romantic interest, Truly Scrumptiou and the evil Child Catcher.

In the book Commander Potts tells the children "Never say no to adventures".  This sentiment suits Fleming who was a WWII intelligence agent, a successful writer and devotee of fine arts.
