Beat the January Blues

With the festive season over now, our waistbands a little tighter and the bank account a little leaner, it is common for a lot of us to get the January blues but here are 5 ways to beat it:

Food:  Eat plenty of oily fish, flaxseed oil, nuts and seeds.  Cabbage and broccoli are also good to eat.  If you are starting a diet this month .......... aren't we all, then make sure your diet contains these mood foods.

Bugs:  This time of year is when nasty flu bugs tend to flare up so make sure that you keep as hygienic as possible and keep away from infected people.

Breakfast:  Make sure you have a breakfast - porridge is perfect as it is low-fat, warming and is full of vitamins, iron and zinc.

Exercise and Sleep:  Try to do 30 mins of exercise a day such as brisk walking will help get rid of the christmas pud tummy and a good sleep pattern - 7 to 8 hours sleep a night will help keep spirits up.

Socialising:   This time of year, we tend to hibernate due to lack of funds, feeling fat etc but it is good to socialise - arrange girly nights in or a walk down the beach etc - it doesn't have to cost a fortune.
