Diets for 2014

Right today is the day that the Daughter and I (which really means the whole family) are going to start our diet to shed a few pounds ready for the Spring.   Research has shown that 72% of us start the year feeling unhappy about our weight.

If you are thinking about joining me, here are a few to decide from.   Good Luck!

Weight Watchers:   Might need sound as glamorous as some of the diets out there but they have been going since 1967 and have million of followers.   f you stick to their point system, it really does work.   For inspiration, take a look at Jennifer Hudson who lost weight through this diet.

The Fast Diet:   This diet came out last year and was hugely successful.    By using the 5:2 fasting principal, i.e. eat normally 5 days a week and then diet for 2 only eating 500 calories (for women) on those days, you not only loose weight but also enjoy a wide range of health benefits such as improvements to blood pressure and cholesterol levels.  Mimi Spencer is co-founder of this diet and I am a great fan of hers.

Porridge on Tuesday Diet:  Apparently this is tailored for us busy women and is tailored around you and your eating habits.   You fill in an online questionnaire and are given a bespoke eating and exercise plan that works around what food you already buy and your lifestyle.

Change your Brain Diet:   According to Dr Amen, by finding out what kind of eater you are, you can find out the quickest and easiest way to loose weight.   Apparently, there are 4 types of eaters - compulsive who binge at night and then depressed, emotional eaters who eat to make themselves feel happier, impulsive eaters who start off the day eating well and boredom sets in and it all goes wrong (that actually could be me) and anxious eaters who eat when nervous.

The S Factor Diet:  This diet lasts only 2 weeks.  According to Lowri Turner, normal diets starve your body of happy hormones and she believes that by depriving yourselves of certain hormones can make you feel more hungry and make the cravings worse.

The MILF Diet:   Great sounding diet.  Apparently it is based on the fact that MILFs are confident, sexy and radiate natural feminity.  According to Jessica Porter, its founder, you can be all these things by eating whole, plant-based food.
