The early years of photography fascinate me and below are photos of people who helped shape the Wild West.

Legend had it that Billy The Kid  killed 21 people, one for every year of his life,  Closer to the truth, it was probably four.   He was shot and killed by Sheriff Pat Garrett in 1881 while hiding at a friend's house.


Jesse James and his brother Frank were famous for robbing banks, stagecoaches and trains.  He was shot in the back of the head by his friend Robert Ford in 1882.

Crazy Horse was famous for taking up arms against the US Federal Government to fight against the taking of the lmd belonging to the Lakota Tribe which included successfully leading a warm party at the Battle of the Little Bighorn in June 1876.



Calamity Jane (Martha Jane Canary) was an American Frontierwoman who became friends with Wild Bill Hancock.

General George Custer is best remembered for his disastrous battle at the Battle of Little Bighorn in 1876 when he and his men were killed and the battle which became known as "Custers Last Stand".




Wyatt Earp is famous for being the Deputy Town Marshall in Tombstone, Arizona and for taking part in the Gunfight at the OK Corral.
