The Wee Retreat


Builder, Nick Willan, spent a £190,000 converting a Victorian seaside toilet block at Sheringham, Norfolk into a seaside home as an anniversary present to his wife, Susan.






The Willan's are not the first to convert public conveniences and below are a few examples of what you can do with a little imagination:


Trendy cafe, the Attendant" can be found in London.  The cafe has kept the original tiles and the seating is built around the old Victorian urinals.






This couple bought their public toilet at North Bay in Scarborough.  The building had also been used as an ammunition store during the War, was closed down in the 1990s and was also used as a seasonal cafe.

Anniversary present: Three years later, he presented the refurbished property (left and right) - dubbed 'The Wee Retreat' - to his wife, Sue, as an anniversary present
